It's no secret that good sleep is the basis for feeling best every day. But why is it so difficult to get a good night's sleep?

I'm by no means a medical expert, but in my personal experience I've narrowed it down to a few factors. First and foremost is stress and anxiety. I think we can all relate here – we live in stressful times. Our body and mind react to the stress factors in our environment. Before I started my new routine, I had a close look at my bedroom. Was it inviting, relaxing and the kind of place where I could relax easily? Eh, not really.

My bedside table was a hot mess. My bed was seldom made. Clean clothes were everywhere from a load of laundry days ago that was never put away. When I stepped into my bedroom, I thought, "Wow, I have a lot of chores to do," not "time to relax."

It took me an hour to clean and organize what made the difference. I got into the habit of getting my bed up every morning. When my CBD entered gently, I lit my candle, used my pillow spray and went to bed with a book. It was my goal to read more, so swapping Instagram scrolling for reading felt like a total win.
